In 2004, Rich Brooks was in his second season. The football team won a less than impressive 2 games and had losses to Louisville, Mississippi State, and OHIO! Several years later some guys named Woodson, Tamme, Burton, Woodyard, Johnson, Cobb etc. led Kentucky to 3 of the most successful years in program history with back-to-back-to-back wins in outside-of-BCS bowl games. Maybe losing to Western is the final straw and I really don’t blame Mitch at this point if he did make some changes. Although, those changes likely won’t happen until December or January. Names like Mike Leach who has Kentucky connections or even a guy like Jim Tressel are possibilities. Tressel sounds more of a dream even though he could really recruit the much needed Ohio area that Kentucky has failed to do miserably. Fans, stop saying Petrino, let’s just get that out of the way. No way is somebody of his nature coming here to make things even worse. Yes, let’s have 3 successful years then watch as every little thing we do have gets ripped away.
Kentucky football fans are known to be optimistic but this is as bad as it gets. November is approaching so we all know what that means. Don’t give up hope, you never know what names will become household. Maxwell, Sweat, Robinson, etc. This program was built on players nobody really knew who became big time players. We were spoiled with bowl games and thought this program was more than what it was.
Don’t forget where we came from.
