Josh Harrellson says Billy Gillispie is Reason He is in the NBA Today

While glancing over some Billy Gillispie news on ESPN, I came across an odd quote from Josh Harrellson.  In the article, Josh defends his former coach.  Now, you have to remember that Billy Clyde Gillispie once locked Jorts in a bathroom stall as a way to punish him.  Apparently, Josh has gotten over it.   The second odd fact is that he gives credit for Darius Miller, DeAndre Liggins, and his NBA journey’s to Billy.  Granted, I’m on the outside looking in, but I would have thought Calipari was the main influence on each of these young men’s basketball careers.

Coach Gillispie is a very smart coach,” said Harrellson, adding that he still keeps in touch with his former coach. “He knew basketball. I don’t think he had the best way of teaching it. But I’m very thankful for what he did. He made all of us mentally tough. He made all three of us [Harrellson, Darius Miller and DeAndre Liggins] be able to do things we’ve never been able to do before. It’s probably why we’re here today, because of how mentally tough he made us.
