Willie Taggart, WKU coach, is upset that Western Kentucky students are wearing UK gear on the week they play UK. I get it. He feels that the student body should be behind their team, as they should be. I don’t have a problem at all with him making a statement encouraging the Western Kentucky students to wear their own stuff. However, I do think he went too far on a quote about those students who are Kentucky Wildcats fans .
The reason they’re at WKU is probably they couldn’t get into UK.
After students and family complained, Taggart quickly apologized. Still, the statement in a whole is strange. He seems to hint that the those students weren’t smart enough or maybe wealthy enough to get into UK and WKU is not an elite school that will take everybody. Stupid statement all in all.
