Is Mitch Barnhart Accusing Fans of Being Racist?

“I want to thank the “real” fans for coming out. Everyone else has a “personal agenda.” “

Mitch Barnhart told this to Tom Leach yesterday after seeing what a low number of fans turned out to the Vanderbilt game.   The first part of the quote comes across a little harsh but Mitch was trying to just make a point that fans should support their team.  The second part , however, is were things get a little “iffy”

What does Mitch Barnhart mean by “personal agenda” against Joker?   I have heard from many fans and readers that they believe Barnhart meant to throw an under handed racism criticism to the UK fans.  I’m not totally buying into this, however I will admit that it is a little strange.   No matter the meaning, I don’t believe it is the right time to start criticizing the fan base.

I really want to know what you think.  Respond with your thoughts below.   Could the timing of the this quote be worse? Is he claiming UK fans that don’t come to football games or support Joker are racist?  Is he just spouting out due to frustration?

Way outta line the way fans have supported a mostly bad UK football program over the last 50 years!  Barnfart has brought UK  football to this and doesn't have the balls to man up.  The only agenda the fans have is to want a competive program.  If Joker had produced there would be SRO crowds @ Commonwealth.  This is on Barnfart completely.

I say Mitch needs to go as well. Folks tend to forget that he was against hiring Cal!

I'm sorry, but NOONE wants to sit in the cold rain to watch a LOSING team!!!!! Has absolutely NOTHING to do with any type of agendas!!!!! On my own personal note, I didn't even watch on TV, and didn't even wear my UK shirt!!!! Not at ALL proud of our team right now. Let's get it right, Mitch!!!!

The agenda is simple. You pay good money for tickets you want a good product on the field. UofK has not produced anything close to that since Rich Brooks left and even that was questionable so the only way to "speak" is with your feet. Not buying concessions and merchandise is the only thing the fans can do.
